12 Hour Utah CE Renewal Package #3
12 hours of Utah Real Estate Continuing Education

All Utah licensees need to complete 12 hours of continuing education in each 2 year renewal period. Renewal dates go by the month an individual was originally licensed.
As a part of the 12 hours, salespersons and brokers must complete 6 hours of core courses and 6 hours of electives.

Taxes! Yuck, who wants to talk about taxes? This course brings the experience of a certified public accountant, attorney and avid real estate investor to share what all real estate licensees should know about the taxes associated with buying, owning, and selling residential real estate. By exploring such basic questions as “what is a residence?” the course provides students with a practical view of taxation that can be leveraged to better assist clients. One unit of the course is dedicated to the taxes associated with a home office, bringing immediate practical application to many agents.

Along with the recent increase in identity theft and numerous high profile business scandals, real estate fraud has become a major industry issue. Real estate is no stranger to the white collar criminal. Many will use real estate as a vehicle to steal the life savings out of unsuspecting home owners and defraud lenders out of millions of dollars for their own gain. This course will identify several types of real estate fraud schemes, both minor and major, and how you as a real estate professional can protect and educate your clients on this growing problem.

| Breaking Barriers: Fair Housing |

As a real estate professional, part of your responsibilities is breaking through barriers and assisting your clients in locating the property that best meets their needs and desires. This course brings a fresh perspective to this not new topic of Fair Housing. The course authors draw upon the perspective of the real estate licensee in an effort to help agents in best serving their client’s needs while navigating themselves away from potential legal trouble. The course reviews fundamentals such as the evolution of the legislation including clear definitions of the actual types of discrimination that exist. The course continues by providing agents with tools for identifying the signs of trouble and tips for avoiding the potential pitfalls.

Online Courses: These interactive courses are accessed via the Internet and can be enjoyed whether you have a dial up 56K or high speed connection to the Internet. Internet Explorer (PC) versions 5.5 or greater is recommended and supported. We also support Firefox (PC & Mac) & Opera (PC & Mac) browsers. We do not support IE on Mac, Netscape, or the AOL built in browser.
The courses include a series of units, varying in quantity by title with periodic true/false or multiple choice questions that check for understanding of the material. Units conclude with short self-correcting quizzes of typically 10 multiple choice and/or True/False questions. They can be repeated as many times as necessary until they are successfully passed. You may log in and log out of the course as often as you like enabling you to complete the lessons whenever it is convenient for you. Once the course is completed The CE Shop team is automatically notified of the completion.
